| United Telecoms is a reputed global business house with interests in diversified sectors like Telecom, E-governance, Steel, Power, IT, Real Estate, Manufacturing and Education with operations spread across 13 countries and employing more than 2000 people. United Telecoms group came into existence to cater to the growing demand for telecom related equipment more than four decades ago by setting up an ancillary unit for supplying spares for Telephone exchanges. During 1989-91, United Telecoms acquired the indigenous technology for manufacture of C-DOT Telecom exchanges and eventually became the lead manufacturer in India and went on to supply more than 4000 exchanges that connected more than 76,000 villages. United Telecoms played a key role in transforming the basic telephone infrastructure of India, by supplying equipments at 25% of prevailing international prices.
The United Telecoms group promoted JT Mobiles became the first cellular operator in Southern India, by starting operations in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka in 1995. JT Mobiles was subsequently merged into Bharti Telecom. United Telecoms Group has evolved into a diversified business group through both organic and inorganic growth. The group revenues for the year ended 31st March 2009 are about USD 110 Million and the revenues for the year ending 31st March 2010 are about USD 190 Million. The group’s net worth stands at over USD 500 Million. Telecom & Networking Products: United Telecoms group has extensive product development and deployment experience in various areas of Telecom. United Telecoms flagship product is Dense Wave Division Multiplexer (DWDM), which can connect cities through a fiber Optic Cable and carry up to 5 Million active Voice & IP Data (including Video) connections (wireless / wire line) at a speed of 400 Gigabits / second. United Telecoms is the only Indian company having commercial deployments of 2.5 G and 10 G DWDM equipment. United Telecoms has been the preferred supplier of DWDM equipment to BSNL and has 80 % market share in this segment. After the successful completion of 2.5 G supply, United Telecoms has recently won a USD 100 Millionorder through a global tender for supply of the latest 10 G DWDM to BSNL. There are only a few companies globally who have this technology, which include global majors like Lucent-Alcatel, Nokia-Siemens, Fujitsu, ZTE, Huawei etc. United Telecoms has a proven track record of successfully supplying telecom equipment like electronic exchanges, Microwave radios, CLIP phones etc worth more than USD 350 Million to organizations like CDOT, ITI, and BSNL. E-governance: United Telecoms has been at the forefront of connecting the government with the citizens though E-governance networks and solutions. United TelecomsE-governance projects have touched the lives of more than 400 Million citizens of our country. The E-governance initiatives have attracted technology partners like Cisco and IBM and have earned accolades from highest echelons of Technology and Governance like Bill Gates and Bill Clinton. United Telecoms offers wide range of e- Governance solutions both in Managed services and Applications. The total value of the United Telecoms domestic E-governance projects on PPP basis is about USD 240 Million. United Telecoms has also been aggressively pursuing international opportunities and currently has an order book of about USD 100 Million. a) Managed Services: United Telecoms has built E-governance networks in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Kerala, Karnataka, and Goa (GBBN). These projects are executed on BOT Model ranging from 5 to 10 years. GBBN is unique since it is the first State-Wide Broadband (10Gbps) Network with Fiber to the Home allowing services like IPTV, VoIP and video conferencing. The Prime Minister of India inaugurated this one-of-a-kind project in 2007. United Telecoms employs over 2000 technical resources in these networks spread across the country. b) Applications: United Telecoms has built E-governance solutions with services like e-seva, OLTP (Online Transaction Processing), smart card based solutions for transport sector, and established E-governance delivery centers like Citizen Service Centers (CSC). The Offered services are Utility Bill / Tax Payments, Certificates, Permits/Licenses, Information etc. Currently, these centers are handling about 10 Million transactions per year. United Telecoms also issues 2.5 Million driving licenses per annum and the potential is 25 million for the period of 10 years under the Maharashtra State Smart-card based Driving License project. United Telecoms Group has developed Automated Power Meters (AMRs) under the brand name ‘Vidyut’ with ability to interface with legacy power systems and capture and relay power consumption data remotely.
